Chinese medicine
Chinese medicine looks back over a history of over 2500 years. In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in research exploring western and eastern concepts of health and healing, using modern scientific methods to investigate ancient techniques of medical diagnosis and intervention.
Chinese medicine perceives and treats body, mind and spirit as a complex whole constantly in communication with itself as well as its environment. The image used is that of an unceasing flow of Qi or life energy.
Wellbeing is experienced when this flow is even and strong; when it is permanently weakened and disturbed tension, anxiety, malaise and finally disease will arise.
* The aim of diagnosis is to find out where and on which level the quality or flow of Qi is impeded.
* The aim of treatment is to restore both. With anxiety and tension easing, the body has a good chance to repair itself.
Chinese medicine therefore emphasises the importance of early, preferably preventive treatment.
